The Pro Evolution Soccer title continues to take a beating by FIFA in the overall sales. The best example is the widely accepted Ultimate Team game mode, where a user can improve his or her team by paying for better players. There are more options and more ways to spend money within the game than ever before. While the number of units sold went down, this likely did not translate to lower revenues for Electronic Arts. FIFA 18 did feature the popular World Cup 2018 France extension. The EA itself claims that the big reason for lower sales is that a lot of people opted to keep playing FIFA 18 instead of upgrading. Perhaps this is due to the fact that year 2019 did not feature a large tournament such as the World Cup or the Euro Cup. This might come as a surprise as the marketing and licensing efforts of Electronic Arts, the maker of FIFA, seem to be on the rise. The thing that stands out the most when looking at the numbers above is that both games have seen a sharp drop in sales of their most recent editions.

As we have done so in the past, we will go over the sales numbers for the previous versions of the two games to see if there are any obvious trends. The Pro Evolution Soccer 2020 game by Konami started selling on September 10th, while the more anticipated title these days, FIFA 20 by EA Sports, is set to be released on September 23rd. As always, it only represents physical sales.FIFA 19 Outsells PES 2019 at 22 to 1 Ratio Published on September 18th, 2019Īnother soccer season is upon us in the world of video games. FIFA 17 PS4 SALE SOFTWARE
This is primarily due to the number of hardware and software packages that bundled in the acclaim racer with copies of FIFA 18. One last notable inclusion in the Top 10 is Forza Horizon 3, which re-enters at No.3 with a 253% increase in sales. The only other new entry in the Top 40 was NIS America's Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, in at No.36. Last week's big new release - Bandai Namco's Project Cars 2 - drops to No.7 with less than half the sales it managed at launch. The lack of other major new releases meant its claim for the No.1 spot was in little danger, but it may also account for the 25% drop in sales given that it had four fewer days on shelves.įIFA 18's debut knocks Destiny 2 down to second place for the first time since launch, its sales dropping 26% week-on-week.
FIFA 17 PS4 SALE SERIES
It's also worth noting that FIFA 18 came out on Friday last week, while historically the series has always launched on a Tuesday. We commented on the rising number of games with seemingly weaker sales than their predecessors last week. Switch's digital store has also proved to be popular, so its sales of FIFA may be higher than the physical charts indicate. GfK Chart-Track observes that FIFA's launch sales were down by 25% year-on-year, and notes that this may be attributed to the rise of digital sales through the PlayStation and Xbox stores. This is no doubt a sign of how low the Switch's UK installbase is (particularly when compared to Xbox One and PS4), but may also tap into another trend that was reported.

FIFA 17 PS4 SALE PS3
This means that for all the excitement surrounding the Switch version, the Nintendo SKU took less than 3% of sales - especially since legacy Xbox 360 and PS3 copies were also available. In fact, when combined the two consoles accounted for 97% of all FIFA 18 units shifted. Xbox One followed with more than a third of all sales. Gfk Chart-Track notes that this was partly assisted by the presence of official bundles on retail shelves.

The PS4 edition accounted for 60% of all FIFA 18 copies sold - up from its 53% share of FIFA 17's launch. Electronic Arts has taken the No.1 spot in the UK charts with this year's FIFA, with PlayStation 4 taking the majority of its sales.
